Las Vegas Raiders interim coach Antonio Pierce is thought to be in the running for the team’s permanent job, but they may have some competition.

The Tennessee Titans have sought permission to interview Pierce for their head coaching position, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. They are hunting for a replacement for Mike Vrabel, who was surprisingly fired on Tuesday.

Interest from a second team could put some added pressure on the Raiders. Pierce has won rave reviews for his work since coming in midseason to replace Josh McDaniels. He went 5-4 down the stretch, and players clearly want him to stick around going forward.

Whether the Raiders intend to listen to those players remains to be seen. Owner Mark Davis may take a big swing at one high-profile coach. If that does come to pass, Pierce may at least have a backup option.
