The Arizona Cardinals have announced the release of LB Markus Golden.

Markus was originally drafted in the 2nd round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Cardinals. He has spent all but two seasons of his nine-year career in Arizona, as he took a quick break to play for the Giants from 2020–2021.

Last season, Golden started in 14 games; however, his play time was off-and-on in those games. In total, Golden recorded just 2.5 sacks, 48 total tackles, and 20 QB hits.

The move to release Golden will save the Cardinals $3.08 in cap money but will also add $1.08 in dead money.

The future of the veteran pass rusher is up in the air, as his 33rd birthday is just three days away. Most likely, Golden will seek a short-term contract to finish off his career.
