The Arizona Cardinals hold the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft. While there is a lot of speculation as to what they will do with that pick, the team does have several needs they need to address. One of those needs is wide receiver. Now, a report reveals that the Cardinals are meeting a surprising prospect.

Arizona Cardinals Meeting With Texans Longhorns WR Xavier Worthy

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Arizona Cardinals are meeting with Xavier Worthy this afternoon. He is a wide receiver from the Texas Longhorns that helped lead the team to the playoffs last season. However, there is one notable thing that stands out about him.

NFL Scouting Combine Record

Just over a month ago, Worthy took part in the NFL Scouting Combine. He blew the scouts away with his performance there. Most notably, Worthy set the 40-yard dash record at the Combine (4.21 seconds).

Arizona Cardinals Draft Situation and Needs

The Cardinals are in an interesting position when it comes to Worthy and the NFL Draft. It would shock many people if Arizona selected him with the fourth overall pick in the draft. However, the Cardinals do have two other decent options.

This is because they have the 27th overall pick from the Houston Texans as well as the 35th overall pick in the second round. As things stand, the Cardinals will likely need to take Worthy with one of those picks if he is the wide receiver they intend to draft.

Wide receiver is arguably the biggest position that the Cardinals need to address. This is why Arizona would likely select Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall pick if he fell to them. Worthy is likely an insurance policy in case one of the first three teams in the draft does not select Harrison.

Other Meetings

Yesterday, Worthy reportedly met with the Chicago Bears. While they are likely intending to select QB Caleb Williams with the top pick, the Bears could end up selecting a wide receiver with their ninth overall pick to help their potential rookie quarterback out. We will have to see if either one of these meetings ends up meaning anything for Worthy.
