Arrest warrant issued for three-time All-Pro Earl Thomas

Veteran safety Earl Thomas last played in the NFL during the 2019 season and reportedly was looking to return to the league this spring or summer.

It seems unlikely the seven-time Pro Bowl selection, who turns 33 years old on Saturday, will receive a call from any club anytime soon.

According to Ryan Autullo of the Austin American-Statesman, an Austin judge has issued an arrest warrant for Thomas after he allegedly violated a court protective order "two or more times within 12 months" by sending threatening messages to a woman about her and her children.

The warrant was signed on April 27, but the three-time First-Team All-Pro hadn't yet been booked as of early Friday evening. He faces a third-degree felony charge.

Trey Dolezal, an attorney and agent representing Thomas regarding an ongoing divorce, told the Austin American-Statesman he left a message for his client about the warrant Dolezal says is related to the player contacting his wife about seeing their children.

"They were consciously and collectively working together to see his kids," Dolezal explained. "I don't really understand how he could be in violation by working together to visit with his children."

The protective order issued in May 2021 states Thomas may only contact the woman through a co-parenting phone application. That woman accuses Thomas of refusing to download the application, contacting her by phone and showing up at places she frequents unannounced.
