The Falcons arrived at training camp this week, which means football is around the corner. We’ve almost made it to the best time of the year, and Arthur Smith has a new look going into the new season, which looks eerily similar to everyone’s favorite soccer coach, Ted Lasso.

Why the change from the Falcons head coach? Apparently, “it’s a lifestyle.”

I can’t speak for Arthur Smith, but I imagine the resemblance between him and Ted Lasso starts and ends with the iconic mustache. The two couldn’t have more different personalities.

Lasso is known for his quirky humor and unparalleled optimism. Smith is a man of few words, at least to the media. He has a lot of Bill Belichick in him in that regard. Smith is also an offensive lineman through and through, the ultimate football guy. I don’t imagine there’s too much lighthearted humor going on when he gets up to talk to the team in the locker room.

With that being said, this is a little bit of a different side we haven’t seen from Smith since taking over as the Falcons head coach, and I hope the mustache is here to stay. Perhaps it’s the thing that propels the Falcons to the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
