The Atlanta Falcons organization has terminated head coach Arthur Smith. "The Falcons have announced the firing of HC Arthur Smith. GM Terry Fontenot remains and, according to the team, will provide input into the coaching search," according to NFL Network's Steve Wyche.

Atlanta posted the announcement on the team's website saying , "Atlanta Falcons have dismissed Arthur Smith as the team's head coach following a meeting Sunday night in Atlanta with Falcons Owner and Chairman, Arthur M. Blank, and the team's CEO, Rich McKay."

Smith leaves the Falcons with a 21-30 record after going 7-10 this season.  He becomes the first head coach terminated before tomorrow's "Black Monday."
