The Bucs don’t typically put out an injury report on Monday, nor does Tampa Bay typically practice on a Monday the day after a game. But when a team plays on Thursday Night Football, like the Bucs do at Buffalo, it’s a short week and the Bucs did in fact practice on Monday.

Yet there were some noticeable absences, starting with quarterback Baker Mayfield, who did not participate on Monday due to a knee injury. Mayfield was sacked three times on Sunday, including late in the game on third-and-goal at the Falcons 8-yard line. But he also scrambled for 31 yards in the fourth quarter prior to that final sack.

Mayfield’s knee injury is not considered to be serious and may be just soreness. It bears watching if he practices on Tuesday, as Monday’s practice was more of a walk-through. Backup quarterback Kyle Trask took the first-team reps with the offense on Monday.

Other Bucs Miss Practice On Monday – Not Just Baker Mayfield

Baker Mayfield wasn’t the only Bucs starter who missed Monday’s practice. Left guard Matt Feiler also sat out with a knee injury, but his could be a bit more serious.

Feiler injured his right knee late in the fourth quarter when right guard Cody Mauch fell on it. Despite the injury he stayed in the game, but gave up a sack to David Onyemata on third-and-goal from the 8-yard line.

Feiler’s status for Thursday night’s game in Buffalo is unknown at this time. His injury and rookie safety Kaevon Merriweather’s ankle injury are believed to be the most serious for Tampa Bay at this time.

Nose tackle Vita Vea has been dealing with multiple injuries this year, the latest of which is a groin injury. Earlier in the season Vea battled a pectoral injury and then a foot injury last week.

Wide receiver Chris Godwin missed Monday’s practice with a neck injury, but he is expected to play on Thursday night.

The Bucs received some good news on Monday with the return of running back Chase Edmonds, who has been cleared to practice. Edmonds was placed on injured reserve after Week 2 with a mild knee sprain. He’s eligible to return to action, possibly as soon as Thursday if he gets activated and returns to the 53-man roster.
