Baker Mayfield found himself the victim of mock and ridicule over what he wore at his pro day on Wednesday. The primary source of most of the social media sniping was the headband Mayfield opted to don during workouts.

Mayfield, shortly before his pro day workout, announced a new sponsorship agreement with Nike, so it makes sense the quarterback would like to showcase the Swoosh.

Mayfield nevertheless is presumably a bit perturbed over how reactions to his pro day was hijacked by his attire, not his performance. The Heisman Trophy winner appeared Thursday on “The Dan Patrick Show” and not surprisingly the headband and such became a topic of conversation.

Suffice to say, Mayfield already is irritated by the entire situation.

“I forgot I couldn’t wear my headband to a football function,” Mayfield said.

Fair enough.
