Basketball Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar rips 'liar' Aaron Rodgers in column

Aaron Rodgers has taken plenty of heat since it was revealed that he is unvaccinated against COVID-19, despite telling reporters in August that he's "immunized." The criticism ramped up further when the Green Bay Packers quarterback appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and defended both his decision not to get vaccinated as well as his misleading answer to the media.

Among those ripping into Rodgers is the NBA's all-time leading scorer, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

In a column posted on his personal Substack page, Abdul-Jabbar blasted Rodgers for his "arrogance," "ignorance," "lies," and "hubris." The 1,200-word essay laments the damage Rodgers' actions and words will have on the image of professional athletes and tears into the quarterback's "illogical" defense.

"Instead of consulting immunologists, he consulted anti-vaxxer and podcast host Joe Rogan, who also contracted the virus," Abdul-Jabbar wrote. "If he ever requires open-heart surgery will he hand the scalpel to romance writers because they know about matters of the heart?"

Abdul-Jabbar, 74, was a 19-time All-Star during his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. In the years since his 1989 retirement, Abdul-Jabbar has become a best-selling author and had a regular column in Time magazine between 2014 and 2016.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw is another prominent critic of Rodgers and said on FOX NFL Sunday that the quarterback could benefit from "learning how to be honest."
