Bears confirm RB Tarik Cohen is out for season with torn ACL

The Chicago Bears confirmed their fears that running back Tarik Cohen suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's 30-26 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

The 25-year-old won't play again this season.

Cohen suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Atlanta game as he was attempting to return a punt. He could put no weight on his right leg before he was helped off the field.

As Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk noted, Cohen put pen to paper on a three-year extension with the Bears worth $5.75 million a year on Sept. 20. That contract links him with the organization through the 2023 season.

Cohen averaged 5.3 yards per carry on 14 attempts over Chicago's first three games, all wins. He also caught six of nine passes for 41 receiving yards.

The Bears still have starter David Montgomery and Ryan Nall on the depth chart but could look to free agency to replace Cohen.
