Chicago Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore Daniel Bartel-USA TODAY Sports

If it were up to D.J. Moore, the Chicago Bears would just stick with Justin Fields and wouldn’t bother taking a quarterback in this year’s NFL Draft.

When asked about the prospect in this spring’s draft class, Moore provided a rather blunt answer.

“I still don’t think they compare to Justin right now,” Moore said, via Bobby Kownack of NFL media.

The Bears own the No. 1 overall pick, and the general consensus is that they will select USC signal-caller Caleb Williams. That means Fields will get traded.

If that occurs, Moore would not be a happy camper, as he has formed quite a bond with Fields.

“The relationship jelled real well from the beginning,” Moore said. “Since I got traded, he was in contact, and we started throwing together, so it made the transition into games and everything easy.”

Chicago had the top pick in last year’s NFL Draft, too, but it dealt the pick to the Carolina Panthers. Moore was sent to the Bears as part of that trade package. So was the Panthers’ 2024 first-rounder.

Moore entered the league as a first-round pick of the Panthers back in 2018, and since then, he has gone through a plethora of quarterbacks. Surely, he doesn’t want to have to develop chemistry with another one.

Instead, Moore would prefer that the Bears add some more weapons alongside of him.

“I want to say, yeah, we could add another receiver,” Moore said. “They’ve got some real talented ones [in the draft]. I know Marvin (Harrison Jr.), so that’d be a choice of mine. But any of those guys that are the big names, I’ve seen and really liked.”

Chicago also has ample cap space heading into free agency, so it can add some pieces in a couple of weeks if it chooses to do so, as well.

Clearly, D.J. Moore feels he knows what the Bears have to do, but the front office is probably not going to put much stock into his opinion.

If Chicago feels that rolling with Williams is the best course of action, Justin Fields will be traded.
