Bears HC Matt Nagy: 'All three' QBs 'under consideration' to start vs. Lions

The Chicago Bears certainly need to turn things around if they are going to rebound from their disastrous 26-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 3.

That's why head coach Matt Nagy is keeping all of his options open while prepping to face the Detroit Lions, and that means considering all three of his quarterbacks for the starting job.

"All three are under consideration right now in regards to where they're at, so we'll just kind of have to see in the next couple days where they're all at," Nagy said via ESPN on Monday of Andy Dalton, Justin Fields and Nick Foles.

Both Dalton and Fields are dealing with injuries. Dalton has a knee injury he sustained in Week 2 against the Bengals, and Fields has a hand injury he sustained Sunday against the Browns. With that knowledge, it seems easiest to plug Foles in under center.

Nagy appears to still want to weigh his options.

"We know where Nick's at, health-wise, but we just want to keep an eye on Justin and Andy," Nagy continued. "Then, for us to stay on that and make sure that we have a plan for any of those."

Fields had a rough outing Sunday even before injuring his throwing hand, getting sacked nine times and only completing 6-of-20 passes for 68 yards in his first NFL regular-season start. The loss is not entirely Fields' fault, but the 22-year-old Ohio State product still has a lot to learn in his first year of professional football.

Whichever QB gets tapped better be ready to drive Chicago's offense in an entirely different direction. While the Bears may have a leg up in the standings over the 0-3 Lions, a win certainly isn't guaranteed for a team that only averaged 1.1 yards per offensive play against the Browns.
