Most Chicago Bears headlines nowadays usually focus on the struggles of Justin Fields and the team's pass game. However, there is still plenty to be excited about on offense, believe it or not. On Wednesday, running back Khalil Herbert was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week for the NFL Week 3 action.
Herbert did not start in Week 3 against the Houston Texans, but played majority of the game. After starting running back David Montgomery left the game with an injury, Herbert stepped in admirably for the Bears. On 20 carries, Herbert racked up 157 yards and two touchdowns on the way to a 23-20 Bears victory.
Entering Week 4, Montgomery does not have a positive outlook for the game against the Giants. On Wednesday, the Bears' released their first injury report of the week. Montgomery was not only on the report, but did not practice to open the week. Chances are, Montgomery may end up missing Sunday's game, allowing Herbert another chance to earn some weekly honors.
What's On Tap for the Bears?
The Bears venture to the Meadowlands for a battle with the Giants. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. CDT and will be viewable on FOX for those in the market. This is a hell of an opportunity for the Bears to start the season two games above .500.
