Bears load up on skill positions, trade for six-time Pro Bowl WR

The former California Golden Bear finds himself as a Bear once again, but this time in the Windy City.

The Chicago Bears continued their offseason frenzy, trading for six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen.

According to NFL Fox reporter Jay Glazer, the Bears have acquired the Chargers star receiver in exchange for a fourth-round pick.

Allen is coming off arguably his best season, finishing with a Chargers franchise-record 108 receptions, 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns.

Allen, 31, will be entering the final year of a four-year contract and will be due a $5 million roster bonus on Sunday. The veteran receiver will play opposite to fellow standout WR DJ Moore.

In his latest post on X, formerly Twitter, Moore shared his immediate reaction to the Bears bringing in his new teammate.

Moore and Allen could serve as the next-best WR tandem in the league, causing matchup nightmares for opposing secondaries with their complementary skillset. In 2023, both players eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards and finished in the top 11, and ranked top-20 in receiving touchdowns.

Although the duo's talent is undeniable, the question at quarterback still remains prevalent. Whether the Bears want to keep Justin Fields or look to bring in a new face of the franchise through the draft, Chicago — with its receiving weapons — will be a QB-friendly environment.

The Bears have been as aggressive as any team has been this offseason, and they have had arguably the best offseason yet. Adding major talent to both sides of the ball in addition to multiple first-round picks in this year's draft will allow the Bears to compete in the NFC North.

Chicago has not seen a winning record since 2018 where it ranked ninth in offense points scored. The addition of a downfield threat such as Allen should make the Bears much more viable on offense. His veteran knowledge and elite route running make him every QB's dream WR.
