Bears open to finding right landing spot for Nick Foles?

The Chicago Bears' priority is figuring out the Andy Dalton-Justin Fields predicament. The franchise's second priority has to do with veteran quarterback Nick Foles.

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Bears are open to trading Foles but want to find a destination that the signal-caller wants as well.

"The Bears will listen on Nick Foles, but I've also long gotten the sense they aren't going to send him somewhere he doesn't want to go," Breer wrote.

Chicago is responsible for Foles' $4 million base salary in 2021 and his $5 million in guarantees in 2022. He will be the NFL's most expensive third-string quarterback.

The Indianapolis Colts once seemed like a prime destination for Foles based on his experience with head coach Frank Reich. However, Carson Wentz is recovering well from foot surgery and the franchise is optimistic he'll be ready for Week 1.

The New York Jets could be a possible suitor as they don't have a solid No. 2 behind Zach Wilson, but it's unclear if they'd be willing to make a deal for the veteran.

At this point, there is no solid trade destination for Foles as nearly every team has settled their quarterback situations. However, if any team suffers an injury at the position, the veteran could be on the move.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy has remained adamant this summer that Dalton will be the team's starting quarterback this season. However, Fields impressed during the preseason, and many fans want him to start over the "Red Rifle."

The Bears open the season against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 12 and, right now, Foles will be holding a clipboard on the sidelined while Dalton and Fields continue to compete.
