The Bears continue to beef up the defense.

The Chicago Bears hit the ground sprinting Monday when the NFL's free agency tampering window officially opened. Ryan Poles successfully brought in some serious defensive help, and he isn't done yet. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Bears have agreed to a two-year deal with the former Tennessee Titans defensive end, DeMarcus Walker.

DeMarcus Walker

DeMarcus Walker is a six-year NFL veteran defensive lineman. The Denver Broncos selected the Florida State product 51st overall in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Walker spent four years with the Broncos before being released. He then signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans and played in 13 games. After that, he joined the Tennessee Titans, again on a one-year deal, but had a breakout season.

Through his six NFL seasons, Walker has 19.5 sacks, seven of which came just last season when he played in all 17 games for the Titans. Walker also notched two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Many around the NFL predicted DeMarcus Walker becoming a hot commodity when the 2022 season concluded. Now that he's agreed to sign a two-year, $7 million deal with Chicago, it appears he sees the Bears as a good fit for him. The 28-year-old pass rusher should fit with Bears head coach Matt Eberflus' defensive scheme and he brings veteran leadership with him.

If Ryan Poles keeps pulling moves like this, making the Chicago Bears an actual destination for high-value free agents, the turnaround for modern success could be quicker than we expected.
