The Chicago Bears announced they have signed inside linebacker Joe Thomas. This is the second linebacker the Bears signed in two weeks. Last week, the Bears signed Noah Dawkins, who has played in only 17 games in his three-year career. Thomas brings the Chicago Bears a little more experience and even some insider knowledge into one of their division rivals.

Joe Thomas has been around the NFL for a number of years. Since 2015, Thomas played on four different teams including the Bears’ arch-rivals from the north. In his seven NFL seasons, he played in 89 games but only started in 16 games. He recorded one interception, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

Thomas has 1.5 sacks over his entire career and 218 tackles. Of those 218, only 12 were tackles-for-loss. Thomas’ stats don’t really paint the brightest picture. But they definitely point to a player that is hungry for more. He hasn’t been able to accomplish too much in his career so far and the Bears could give him the right opportunity to do so.

The 30-year-old inside linebacker from South Carolina State provides the Chicago Bears with some much-needed depth at the position heading into the 2022 NFL season.
