Not more than 24 hours removed from their first win of the 2022-23 campaign, the Chicago Bears made a number of roster moves. Among the moves, the team signed DL Mike Pennel back to the active roster, waived OL Lachavious Simmons on his birthday, and signed OL Michael Niese and DE Andre Anthony to the practice squad.

Pennel has had an odd adventure on the roster over the last five days or so. Last week, he was originally released only to be re-signed to the practice squad. However, in the same breath, he was elevated and played on Sunday, registering a lone tackle in the Bears' 19-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Now, it appears he's here to stay as one of the linemen who will rotate at the one-technique spot.

In addition, the Bears waived offensive lineman Lachavious Simmons. Simmons, who turned 26 on Monday, appeared in two games during the 2021-22 season and made one start. However, he appears to be one of the odd men out on the offensive line. He did not appear in Sunday's game.

Michal Niese was elevated with Pennel ahead of Sunday's game. However, the team has returned him to the practice squad on Monday. In addition, the team added DE Andre Anthony to the practice squad. Anthony was a seventh-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
