The Chicago Bears are a popular franchise no matter how bad they are. In relation to the international stage, they’re no stranger to attention there either. After speculation suggested the Bears and Kansas City Chiefs would play against one another in Germany in 2023, the Bears will have a confirmed “home game” in Europe in 2024.

According to the team on Thursday morning, they will serve as the host team for a game in London during the 2024 season. Although the opponent, date, and time for the matchup are largely undetermined, the game should be an exciting one from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which opened in 2019.

The Bears are one of four teams to have been deemed host teams overseas in 2024. The Bears, along with the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars will play in London, while the Carolina Panthers will play in Germany. In addition, a game will be played in Sao Paolo, Brazil, but the teams involved are not yet determined.

This will be the fourth time the Bears have played in London. Aside from a 1986 preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, most of the contests have occurred in recent memory. In 2011, the Bears played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in London, and in 2019 the Bears played the then Oakland Raiders.

Bears’ Chairman George McCaskey spoke on the excitement the team has for another game in London:

"Every game the Chicago Bears play is rich in tradition, culture and passion. And every year, game after game, we look forward to welcoming fans to experience that richness. This year, we will take our storied franchise and tradition back to London and share internationally what our fans locally experience at every game. We are excited to join the many NFL teams who are expanding internationally to play a game in London during our 2024 season."

Once the NFL schedule is released, the Bears’ opponent will be disclosed. For now, we know the Bears will have a chance to enjoy some true British fish and chips in 2024.
