The Chicago Bears have had their fair share of issues at the quarterback position this season. With struggles to move the ball down the field, and injuries causing the backups to come in, it has been a rough year for the team to say the least. Chicago has now released their quarterback after their heartbreaking loss to the Detroit Lions last week, and the depth has now been depleted for the struggling offense.

The team has decided to move on from quarterback Trace McSorley who just joined the practice squad a couple of weeks ago. McSorely was serving as the backup option to the second-string quarterback Tyson Bagent, who was filling in for the injured Justin Fields. Fields suffered a thumb injury a few weeks ago that kept him out of the action until this past week, where he threw for 169 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

McSorley has played just nine games in the NFL throughout his career and has passed for 502 yards, one touchdown, and five interceptions. He has been on the Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots and now the Bears. Now that he has been released from Chicago, it will be interesting to see which team picks him up next.

Chicago Bears Struggles

Chicago has had a season to forget this year, and a big part of the problems lie on the offensive side of the ball. Fields has had his best career year, but it has not translated into team success so far. Fans and analysts are calling for the firing of first-year head coach Matt Eberflus, saying that he is the reason the team is performing so poorly.

Chicago is currently 3-8 and dead last in the NFC North division. They will play on Monday Night Football this week against their divisional rivals, the Minnesota Vikings. Rumors continue to circle the NFL world regarding Fields being dealt to another team in the upcoming offseason, but if the Bears could amount to a strong ending to the season, the team may bring in better weapons and protection for him.
