Ben Roethlisberger agrees to one-year, restructured deal with Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger will be the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers for at least one more year. The six-time Pro Bowler officially signed a restructured one-year contract with Pittsburgh.

"We are excited we were able to come to an agreement with Ben Roethlisberger on a new contract for him to return to the Steelers in 2021," said General Manager and Vice President Kevin Colbert. "We know that Ben can still play at a high level and do special things for this team."

The exact terms of the deal, which was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, were not made clear, but Roethlisberger was expected to accept a restructured deal that would give the Steelers some cap flexibility heading into free agency. This deal likely means that Roethlisberger will finish his career with Pittsburgh, which drafted him with the 11th overall pick in the 2004 draft.

After missing most of the 2019 season due to injury, Roethlisberger put together a somewhat inconsistent campaign in 2020. While he and the Steelers started the season strong, going 11-0 and looking like a Super Bowl contender, they lost most of their momentum as the year went along, finishing 12-4 and losing to the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the playoffs.
