Ben Roethlisberger reveals when he was jealous of Kenny Pickett

After admitting he didn't want QB Kenny Pickett to initially succeed, Ben Roethlisberger came clean about exactly when he was jealous of his replacement in 2022.

"You had the ball four or five times in the latter half of the year," Roethlisberger said on his "Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger" podcast. "Those were the only times I was jealous of you...there's always those guys that understand the game of football...having the feel for the game. I can tell you have it."

It's high praise from Roethlisberger, who finished his career with 53 game-winning drives, trailing only Tom Brady and Peyton Manning all time.

However, Pickett certainly deserves it after helping the Steelers finish 7-2 last season. He ended his rookie year with four game-winning drives, two in back-to-back weeks to end the year.

In Weeks 16 and 17, Pickett became the first rookie in NFL history to have a game-winning touchdown pass in the final minute in back-to-back games.

Pickett has fans in Pittsburgh very optimistic for 2023 and beyond, and Roethlisberger agrees.

"I think you're the future of this team, I really do," Roethlisberger added. "The fans should be lucky. They are lucky they got you."
