Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is making his way back from wrist surgery, and head coach Zac Taylor said on Monday that Burrow is making good progress.

“It’s positive,” Taylor said, via Brady Henderson of ESPN. “It’s right on schedule, and so we’re encouraged with everything we thought it was going to be and where he’s going to fit into our offseason.”

The 2023 campaign was an injury-riddled nightmare for Burrow.

He began the season nursing a calf issue, which clearly inhibited him the first several weeks of the year as he struggled over his first few games.

Burrow then finally found his footing and appeared to be kicking it into gear in October and November, but in Week 11, he suffered a wrist injury that knocked him out for the remainder of the season.

In 10 games this past year, Burrow threw for 2,309 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 66.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 91.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was selected by the Bengals with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

A severe knee injury limited him to 10 starts during his rookie campaign, and during his time on the field, he totaled 2,688 yards, 13 touchdowns and five picks.

The following year, Burrow returned with a vengeance, throwing for 4,611 yards, 34 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing a league-best 70.4 percent of his passes and registering a 108.3 passer rating. Most importantly, he led Cincinnati all the way to the Super Bowl, where it ultimately fell to the Los Angeles Rams.

Then, in 2022, Burrow made his first Pro Bowl after finishing with 4,475 yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 picks while completing 68.3 percent of his throws and recording a passer rating of 100.8.

When healthy, Joe Burrow is unquestionably one of the best signal-callers in football, and the Bengals are legitimate contenders with him on the field as a result.
