The Cincinnati Bengals have made an important decision regarding its roster for Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. With Joe Burrow‘s status still in some doubt the team elevated two players to the active roster.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport , the Bengals upgraded quarterback Reid Sinnett and tight end Tanner Hudson to the active roster. The two had previously been on the practice squad.

Burrow “tweaked” a calf strain he suffered in training camp during the Week 2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Since re-aggravating the injury, the quarterback has been labeled as “day-to-day.”

The bigger news is that Cincinnati upgraded Sinnett to the active roster, giving the team more options at quarterback in the event Burrow can’t go — or gets injured again.

Sinnett went undrafted out of San Diego in 2020. He has had stops with the Miami Dolphins (2020-21) and Philadelphia Eagles (2021) before joining the Bengals.

Hudson played at Southern Arkansas and was not selected in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2018-20), San Francisco 49ers (2021) and New York Giants (2022).

Kickoff between the Bengals and Rams is set for 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN2. Cincinnati is 0-2 while Los Angeles owns a 1-1 record.

Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase weighs in on Joe Burrow’s status

After learning that Burrow re-aggravated his injury against the Ravens last week, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase weighed in on the quarterback’s status for Monday Night Football. He doesn’t sound overly pleased that Burrow has been playing.

“If I had to guess, I would say no,” Chase said when asked if Burrow would play. “But I don’t know because I’ve been telling him, ‘no.’ My answer never changed from this.”

Rams defensive star Aaron Donald believes the QB will be under center for the game. The team prepared as if he would play, too.

“I expect him to play,” Donald said of Burrow, pre Pro Football Talk. “I know he is a tough guy. So my mindset is he’s going to be out there healthy and playing how he needs to play. So our job is to go through this game plan, obviously practice it, get used to it, feel comfortable with it, understand what we need to do, and then execute it come Monday.”

Perhaps to prevent further injury, Burrow should take a break. At least for a week. But we’ll see what everyone decides when kickoff arrives on Monday night.
