Bengals HC Zac Taylor unsure of TE C.J. Uzomah's status for Super Bowl LVI

One of the bigger injuries to monitor ahead of Super Bowl LVI this week has been Cincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah's MCL sprain in his left knee.

The injury occurred nearly two weeks ago during the team's AFC Championship Game victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor expressed optimism on Wednesday regarding Uzomah's status but on Thursday said that the seventh-year pro's availability hasn't been determined yet.

For what it's worth, Uzomah has said multiple times this week that he doesn't intend to miss the big game.

The former fifth-round draft pick has spent his entire career with the Bengals and is coming off of arguably his best season. During the 2021, Uzomah set career-highs in receptions (49), receiving yards (493) and receiving touchdowns (five).

On a high-flying offense including second-year gunslinger Joe Burrow under center, rookie sensation Ja'Marr Chase and second-year stud Tee Higgins at wide receiver, and Pro Bowler Joe Mixon at running back, Uzomah finished the campaign tied for third in receiving scores and fourth in targets (63), receptions and receiving yards on the squad.

Super Bowl LVI is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
