Bengals TE C.J. Uzomah on Super Bowl: 'I'm not missing the biggest game of my life'

Cincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah had a rough start to his Super Bowl experience. The knee injury he suffered early in the AFC Championship victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Jan. 30 prevented him from practicing last week.

Uzomah is reportedly dealing with a sprained MCL in his left knee but hasn't yet been ruled out of the Super Bowl matchup versus the Los Angeles Rams. The 29-year-old spoke with reporters Monday and heavily suggested the Bengals may have to hold on to his helmet to prevent him from playing this weekend.

"It's the Super Bowl. I'm doing everything I can," Uzomah explained about where he is in his recovery process, according to Kevin Patra of the NFL's website. "I don't really care too much about how I'm feeling, to be honest, when I'm out there. … I'm not missing the biggest game of my life. I'm not missing it. If I wake up and I'm like, 'Oh man, it's a little sore,' it doesn't matter. Right when I get in that building, right when I put my feet on the ground, it's go time. Let's get this rehab going. Let's do everything I can to make sure that I'm ready and available to play, so that's kind of where my mind is."

Uzomah added he feels "really, really good" and that he considers himself "day-to-day."

After recording 49 catches for 493 yards and five touchdowns during the regular season, Uzomah tallied 13 receptions for 135 yards and a score across Cincinnati's first two contests of the postseason before his injury. It seems his status for Sunday's showdown could come down to a game-time decision unless his knee takes a turn in either direction beforehand.
