Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah active for Super Bowl LVI despite MCL sprain

Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah vowed that he wouldn't miss Super Bowl LVI, despite suffering a knee injury in Cincinnati's AFC Championship Game win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Uzomah pulled off the feat, as he was officially ruled active Sunday by the Bengals.

Uzomah, 29, went down early against the Chiefs and was later diagnosed with an MCL sprain. He wore a brace after the injury, but ripped it off during a rally last weekend to cheers from Bengals fans. Still, Uzomah only returned to practice Thursday and was listed as questionable to play, even if he was insistent he'd never miss the Super Bowl.

"I'm not missing the biggest game of my life," Uzomah told NFL.com. "I'm not missing it. If I wake up and I'm like, 'Oh man, it's a little sore,' it doesn't matter. Right when I get in that building, right when I put my feet on the ground, it's go time."

Uzomah has been an important part of the Bengals offense this season with career-best numbers to match. He finished the regular season with 493 receiving yards and five touchdown receptions. In Cincinnati's first two playoff wins, Uzomah had 13 receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown.
