Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow Katie Stratman-USA TODAY Sports

Bengals wideout doesn't think Joe Burrow should play if he's not '100 percent'

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is nursing an injured calf, making his status for "Monday Night Football" against the Los Angeles Rams uncertain. Still, one of his top targets has strong feelings about whether or not he should power through.

"I think, personally, if he's not 100 percent, I don't think he should [play]," Higgins said via Olivia Ray of NBC 5 Cincinnati. "But with him, you never know. So, who knows."

Like everyone else, Higgins seemed unsure about Burrow being ready to play, revealing that on Sunday, the quarterback appeared to have a limp at times and at others, not.

"We see him limping, we'll be like, 'Man, what's going on? You all right?" Higgins said about Burrows.

Higgins said that Burrow has assured his teammates that he was "good" every time they asked, but there is clearly concern from the Bengals side.

Burrow didn't practice on Thursday and earlier, head coach Zac Taylor told reporters that Burrow was day-to-day, adding that "soreness is an issue."

Meanwhile, Burrow wasn't giving anything away, saying, "We'll see," when asked about his progress.

Regardless of how Monday shakes out, the Bengals need Burrow to get right for the team to live up to expectations. If that means sitting out a game, so be it, because Burrow's been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league playing injured.

Through two weeks, only rookies Bryce Young (149.5) and Anthony Richardson (13.9.5) are averaging fewer passing yards per game than Burrow's 152. Meanwhile, Burrow has the fourth-lowest completion percentage (56.9) in the NFL.

Playing on Monday instead of Sunday offers the Bengals a bit of wiggle room with Burrow. However, they do have to decide soon as the only other quarterback on the Bengals active roster is Jake Browning, who has thrown one career pass in the NFL since going undrafted out of Washington in 2019.
