The Buffalo Bills have restructured offensive lineman Connor McGovern‘s contract, guaranteeing his salary for the 2024 season. The move helps Buffalo clear $3.74 million in cap space, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports.

In 2024, McGovern was set to earn a base salary of $5.8 million that included a workout bonus of $100,000, according to Spotrac. The deal carried a cap hit of $7.9 million and a dead cap value of $6 million before the conversion.

McGovern signed a three-year, $22,350,000 contract with the Buffalo Bills before the 2023 season. At the time of his signing, the deal included an $8 million signing bonus with $11 million guaranteed.

Prior to Buffalo, he was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. There, he spent the first four years of his career blocking for Dak Prescott

McGovern started his career off on a bad foot in Dallas when he tore his pectoral muscle in the preseason. He went on IR but became a full contributor in 2020. He started eight of 14 games in 2020, six of 16 in 2021 and 15 games in 2022. During the 2022 season, McGovern allowed one or fewer pressures in 10 of his 15 games and allowed just one in two playoff starts, according to SB Nation.

Overall, he’s seen action in 62 games and started in 46.

Before that, he played football for the Penn State Nittany Lions where he was named Third-team All-Big Ten during his senior season in 2018. McGovern was a consensus four-star recruit coming out of high school. He was a product of the 2016 recruiting class.

Green Bay Packers restructure Rashan Gary’s deal

NFL free agency is just around the corner, and teams are doing everything in their power to ensure that they not only keep their free agents in their respective locker rooms but also potentially add some of the biggest names out there. And in order to do so, the Green Bay Packers have gone ahead and restructured the contract of linebacker Rashan Gary, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

“The #Packers restructured LB Rashan Gary’s deal, clearing $4.781M,” said Pelissero via X.

Ahead of the contract restructuring, the Packers were roughly $2,000,000 under the cap threshold. Now, Green Bay possesses a little bit more flexibility as the NFL’s 2024 free agency. Gets underway.
