Bills' Damar Hamlin released from Cincinnati hospital, will continue recovery in Buffalo

There continues to be encouraging news regarding the status of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

Per ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg and the NFL's website, Hamlin was released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on Monday. The 24-year-old who went into cardiac arrest during last Monday's primetime game at the Cincinnati Bengals is being transferred to a Buffalo-area hospital, where he will continue what's been a remarkable recovery.

"I can confirm he is doing well and this is the beginning of the next stage of his recovery," Dr. William Knight said of Hamlin on Monday afternoon.

According to Maddy Glab of the Bills' website, Dr. Knight noted it's far too soon after last Monday's incident to comment on Hamlin's playing future:

Hamlin was active on Twitter during Buffalo's 35-23 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday and offered his own update via social media on Monday:

Buffalo's Nyheim Hines produced arguably the most emotional moment of Sunday's NFL action when he returned the game's opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown. Doctors shared a humorous story about Hamlin watching that moment live while still connected to monitors:

As Getzenberg previously mentioned, Hamlin texted fellow Buffalo defensive backs at around 2:31 a.m. ET this past Saturday morning to say he was sorry he "did that to y'all." Following Sunday's result, he FaceTimed with the team and was presented with a game ball.

"[Hamlin] said, 'Love y'all boys, Bills on three, Bills on me. 1-2-3 Bills,'" Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen remarked about the postgame interaction.

The new "America's Team" (13-3) will next host the 9-8 Miami Dolphins in the wild-card round of the playoffs this Sunday.
