After resigning as the Buffalo Bills' defensive coordinator last offseason, Leslie Frazier seem ready to get back into the coaching game, albeit in a different role.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Frazier will interview for the Los Angeles Chargers' head-coaching opening.
Frazier, 64, faces stiff competition for the job, as the Chargers have either interviewed or requested interviews with 10 other coaches. However, he is one of the few candidates with previous head-coaching experience, even if it was a decade ago at this point.
After taking over for the fired Brad Childress in late 2010, Frazier took over as the Minnesota Vikings' interim coach and eventually earned the full-time job. He finished his time in Minnesota with a 21-32-1 record, but did make the playoffs with a 10-6 finish in 2012.
Following his firing in 2013, Frazier spent time as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defensive coordinator and the Baltimore Ravens' secondary coach before arriving in Buffalo.
Over his six seasons with the Bills, Frazier's defense developed into one of the better units in the league, finishing in the top 10 in points allowed four times. The best season for the Bills' defense came in 2021, when they finished first in both yards and points allowed.
Frazier announced that he would be taking a leave of absence for the 2023 season with an intention of returning to coaching in 2024, but not necessarily with the Bills. If this interview is anything to go by, it may be more likely that he heads elsewhere rather than coming back to Buffalo.
