The Buffalo Bills' roster purge earlier this week claimed several victims in the name of salary cap space, but as a silver lining, those players are able to get a head start on finding a new home before free agency begins on Wednesday.
Former Buffalo defensive back and special teams ace Siran Neal, one of the players recently released by the Bills, is taking full advantage of that silver lining. According to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe , Neal is set to meet with the New York Giants on Monday, two days before free agency kicks off.
Neal, 29, was a fifth-round selection out of Jacksonville State in the 2018 NFL Draft. He primarily earned his keep as a special teams player, as he played at least 240 special teams snaps in each of his six seasons in Buffalo.
On defense, Neal recorded 115 total tackles in 97 games with the Bills.
The Giants have several Bills connections, as general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll were both with the organization before bolting for the Big Apple in 2021.
If the Giants want Neal, they'll have to fend off a couple of his old AFC East rivals. According to CBS Sports, the New York Jets and New England Patriots both have interest in him as well, though no visit with either team has been reported.
By releasing Neal on Wednesday, the Bills saved just under $3 million in cap space.
