Bills HC reveals one thing that can help QB Josh Allen bounce back

Amid a turbulent week in Buffalo, Bills head coach Sean McDermott revealed how quarterback Josh Allen can turn it around.

On Friday, the HC said if Allen regains his enthusiasm, it will make a "huge" difference.

"He's the leader of our football team, let alone in this case, the offense. I think just getting him back to having that look in his eye and having some fun out there," McDermott told the media. "The guy that we have watched here, but also back at Wyoming, right? Just going out there and having that joy when he's playing."

This season, Allen is tied for the league lead in passing TDs (19) but also leads the league in interceptions (11). The Bills (5-5) are fading from the playoff picture. After losing three of their last four games, the New York Times simulator notes they have a 20 percent chance to make the postseason.

After a Week 10 loss to the Denver Broncos on "Monday Night Football," the Bills fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and replaced him with Joe Brady. Allen blamed himself and the offense for the coaching change.

"It hurts a lot to see someone you care about go through a situation like that," the QB said in a Wednesday news conference. "and to know that if I could have done more, if this offense could've done more, we wouldn't have had to do something like that."

It's not clear if Brady can help Allen rebound. He won a national championship in 2019 while serving as LSU's passing game coordinator, but he flopped in the NFL. In two seasons as Panthers OC, his offense ranked near the bottom of the league. Carolina fired him in 2021.

Still, the Bills must help their star QB rebuild his confidence to make a late playoff push.
