Bills HC Sean McDermott says he didn't watch Josh Allen's TD pass to Gabe Davis

Following his team's "Thursday Night Football" win over the New England Patriots in Week 13, Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott admitted that he didn't see Josh Allen's highlight-reel touchdown pass to Gabe Davis in the second quarter.

"I wasn't looking, I closed my eyes when he threw it," McDermott said, per NFL.com's Grant Gordon.

Up 10-7 with 5:34 left in the second quarter, Allen took a third-and-goal shotgun snap from the Patriots' eight-yard line and scrambled right. As he was being pursued by linebacker Mack Wilson, Allen was forced towards the sideline from 13 yards out and somehow, as he was drifting out of bounds, fired this pass to an open Davis for six.

The 2020 Pro Bowl signal-caller finished the night 22-for-33 for 223 passing yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions while adding eight carries for 20 yards. Buffalo has defeated New England in five out of their last six head-to-head games, including January's 47-17 beatdown in the AFC Wild Card round.

Entering Thursday with just a two-game lead over the Patriots, the Bills could've seen their rivals creep closer in the AFC East standings (especially with a head-to-head tiebreaker). After the 24-10 victory though, Buffalo (9-3) temporarily moves into first place in the division and holds the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff race.

The Miami Dolphins (8-3) and New York Jets (7-4) play games on Sunday, while New England is out of the playoff picture right now at 6-6.
