Bills injury report lists funny reason for new acquisition's DNP

Bills Mafia need not worry about the health of recently acquired cornerback Rasul Douglas, despite the 29-year-old's DNP on the team's Wednesday injury report.

Douglas was sent from the Green Bay Packers to the Buffalo Bills right before Tuesday's trade deadline, so he is still getting acclimated to his new surroundings in Western New York, hence the "Just got here" label.

Since the West Virginia University product's first three NFL seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2017-19 when he served as a part-time player, Douglas has been one of the most durable defensive backs in the league.

The former third-round pick played in 14 games and made double-digit starts (11) for the first time in 2020 with the Carolina Panthers. Douglas was on the field for exactly 89% of his team's defensive snaps that year, as well as in 2021 and 2022 with the Packers, and played all 17 games a season ago while posting career highs in starts (12) and defensive snaps.

The Super Bowl LII champion became a full-time starter in Green Bay in 2023 and was on the field for every one of the team's 487 defensive snaps, plus 75 on special teams. Douglas is threatening to break last year's career-best mark of 13 passes defended, as he's already racked up six across seven games, while adding two tackles for loss, one interception and his first fumble recovery.

It wouldn't be surprising to see the 2017 draft pick make his debut at Bills practice on Thursday or Friday and perhaps be on the field when Buffalo takes on the Cincinnati Bengals on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 9.
