Bills QB Josh Allen doesn't see similarities between himself and Bears' Justin Fields

Chicago Bears' dynamic second-year quarterback Justin Fields has impressed many with his electric play this season, even garnering comparisons to 2022 MVP candidate Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills.

While some have compared Fields' skills to that of Buffalo's star, Allen balked at the idea while appearing on "Kyle Brandt's Basement" this week.

"I don't think he's going to be the next me," Allen said. "I think he's going to be the next him."

Allen may not see himself in Fields, but he has been wowed by what the 23-year-old can do, calling Fields a "special talent" who can "spin the rock."

"Seems like a really good kid, and the organization and his teammates love him," Allen said. "He works hard and doesn't complain. I'm obviously pulling for him. I'm a big fan of his."

The Bills traveled to Chicago on Christmas eve, giving Allen a front-row seat to watch Fields work. The day started well for Fields, who scrambled for seven yards and went 3-for-3 through the air, capping off an eight-play, 64-yard drive with a six-yard touchdown pass to Dante Pettis on the Bears' opening series. However, the Bills' defense responded, forcing Fields to beat them with his arm after shutting down his rushing attack. Following the Bears' opening drive, the Bills held Fields to only four yards on the ground and 84 passing yards the rest of the way, ultimately leaving Chicago with a blowout victory, 35-13

Allen, who has overcome similar struggles since entering the league in 2018, said performances like last week for Fields are part of his maturation as a quarterback, who also excels in the running game.

"As quarterbacks, we don't want to be known as running quarterbacks - we want to be quarterbacks who can run," Allen said. "Actually, that's the progression that is next for him. I got no doubt that he'll be there."
