The Buffalo Bills have made a notable contract tweak as the new league year approaches.

Per reports from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Buffalo has restructured the contract of offensive lineman Connor McGovern in order to free up about $3.7 million. The Bills were about $43 million over the cap before the move.

"The Bills did a conversion on OL Connor McGovern's contract, guaranteeing his deal for 2024 and clearing $3.74M," Pelissero tweeted.

According to Spotrac, this "conversion" turned into a signing bonus for McGovern.

"The Bills converted $4.675M of OL Connor McGovern's 2024 base salary into signing bonus, adding 2 void years, clearing $3.74M of cap space this season," Spotrac tweeted.

Originally a third-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2019, McGovern signed a three-year, $22.35 million contract with Buffalo in March 2023. He battled injury ahead of his first year with the Bills, but ended up playing in all 17 games this past season.

Upon arriving to Buffalo, he said it was different than his time in Dallas and even gave what some considered to be a slight jab at the Cowboys.

“Yes, complete 180 (degrees from Dallas),” McGovern said. “But it’s been the best (coaching) I’ve had in my career from college all the way up. (Bills offensive line coach Aaron Kromer) gets into the small, little details, and I’ve never really had somebody pick things apart.”co
