Bills, Sabres co-owner Kim Pegula undergoing treatment for undisclosed health issues

Kim Pegula, co-owner of the NFL's Buffalo Bills and NHL's Buffalo Sabres, is undergoing medical treatment for unspecified health issues.

"Kim Pegula is receiving medical care as a result of some unexpected health issues," the Pegula family explained in a statement shared by Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk and Michael Baca of the NFL's website. "We are very grateful for the progress she has made over the past few days. She has an exceptional team of medical experts at her side. We ask that you keep Kim and our family in your prayers and ask that you respect our need for privacy."

No additional information was given on her status or about her treatment.

Per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN, Kim and Terry Pegula originally purchased the Sabres in 2011 and the Bills in 2014. The Pegula family also owns the Buffalo Bandits and Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League and the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Kim Pegula, 53, serves as the president and CEO of Pegula Sports and Entertainment and is tasked with handling business operations for the NFL and NHL franchises. She is the first woman president of both an NFL and NHL team.

Together, the Pegulas have five children.
