Bills' trade hints at star DE's injury status

The Buffalo Bills agreed to a trade with the New York Giants on Tuesday morning, a move that could signal the injury status of star edge rusher Von Miller.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic mentioned that with NFL rosters having to be cut down to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, "one of the bigger" decisions to be made across the league was with Miller's situation in western New York.

The eight-time Pro Bowler revealed the best- and worst-case scenarios for his return from last season's torn ACL in late July, saying that playing in Week 1 was the former and being out until Week 6 was the latter.

Miller suffered the injury during the team's Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions in Week 12 last year. The 34-year-old Miller was leading the Bills in both quarterback hits with 12 and sacks at 8.0 at the time and still finished in second and tied for first in the categories respectively, despite the six missed games.

Although he's now in his mid-30s and has missed a significant chunk of time in two of the last three years (missed entire 2020 season with ankle injury) the return of the Texas A&M product should be a big boost to Buffalo's already stout defense.

The Bills have third-year pro Greg Rousseau lined up as their projected left defensive end, with 2019 first-round pick Ed Oliver and 31-year-old veteran DaQuan Jones slated to join on the defensive line as well.

Buffalo will visit the New York Jets in the Week 1 edition of "Monday Night Football" at 8:15 p.m. ET on Sept. 11.
