The Los Angeles Chargers have hired Greg Roman as their next offensive coordinator, and fans are weighing in on the hiring.

The hiring of Roman has spewed mixed thoughts from fans on social media. Here are some of the top reactions to Roman joining the Chargers.

This is now Roman's fourth NFL offensive coordinator gig, after previously serving as the OC for the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-2014, Buffalo Bills from 2015-2016 and Baltimore Ravens from 2018-2022.

Roman of course has ties to both head coach Jim Harbaugh and GM Joe Hortiz. Roman worked directly under Harbaugh for four seasons with the 49ers and was part of the Ravens with Hortiz.

What Roman has done well in every stop as an offensive coordinator is lead a strong rushing game. Every Roman-led offense has ranked top-ten in the NFL in rushing. Even better, eight of Roman's teams have finished top-three in rushing, and four have finished first.

What makes this hire interesting is Roman has primarily worked with running quarterbacks, including Colin Kaepernick, Tyrod Taylor, and Lamar Jackson.

This included serving as the OC for Jackson's 2019 MVP season, in which Jackson became just the second quarterback to rush for over 1,000 yards. Roman won the AP Assistant Coach of the Year following this season.

However, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is not known for his rushing ability. A lot of the reason for the high rushing stats from Roman's previous offenses is the combined rushing yards from the running backs and quarterback.

While the Chargers will certainly welcome an improved running game, it will be interesting to see how Roman adapts to a primarily passing quarterback like Herbert.
