Los Angeles Chargers tight end coach Kevin Koger is heading to the Atlanta Falcons to become their next tight end coach. Koger was the Chargers' tight end coach from 2021-2023.

During his time with the Chargers, Koger worked with tight ends Gerald Everett and Jared Cook, leading Everett to career-highs in receiving yards.

Koger is also a former college football tight end, playing for Michigan from 2008-2011. He later returned to Michigan as a graduate assistant from 2013-2014, but his time with the Wolverines did not overlap with new Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh, who arrived at Michigan in 2015.

Koger will not overlap with Harbaugh again, now that he's departing for the Falcons. Even if Koger didn't just take the Falcons job, there is no guarantee he would have been retained on the Chargers new coaching staff.

Often, new coaches bring in their own staff, which Harbaugh has already done by bringing in Michigan strength coach Ben Herbert and defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. Another former Chargers offensive coach has already departed as well, with Kellen Moore leaving for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, Koger will get to work with under new Falcons coach Raheem Morris and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. Koger will be teaming up with Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts, who was one of the top tight end prospects in recent memory.
