The Los Angeles Chargers will have their third different offensive coordinator in the last three seasons when we hit the 2024 season.

Coordinators have come and gone for the Chargers, and they seemed like the right fit at the moment. For one reason or another, the Chargers' offense couldn't capitalize. Nonetheless, that brings us to a new offensive coordinator, Greg Roman

Roman will be tasked with taking the Bolt's offense to new heights. Although it starts and ends with their star quarterback, Justin Herbert, it won't be on him to elevate the offense. Instead, Roman is taking a different approach, one we thought would be different in 2023— the run game.

Roman was adamant the run game would be the offense's focal point.

The Bolt's new OC gave ESPN's Kris Rhim a glimpse of how the offense will operate this upcoming season.

"It's going to be a little different," Roman said. "I think you're going to see probably a multiple running game. You'll probably see the use of motions and shifting, and then you'll see a pretty diverse passing game."

Roman is no stranger to developing a premier run game. While he was offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens from 2019-2022, he put together some of the most prolific rushing offenses in his first year. The same year, Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson won his first MVP.

He led Baltimore to number one in rushing yards per game (175.2). Roman was also responsible for the San Francisco 49er's elite run offense when he was the OC from 2011 to 2014 under Ji Harbaugh. The 49ers were second in the NFL over that span in rushing yards per game (139.3).

We all thought former OC Kellen Moore would evaluate the run game because of what he did in Dallas. However, this is a new regime from top to bottom, and Charger fans expect a different outcome in 2024, barring injury.

If all pans out, this Chargers offense will be among the top ten or five in rushing offense.
