Wide receiver Braxton Berrios apparently has settled on his new Miami Dolphins jersey number, and he decided to make some history with it.

Berrios revealed via Instagram on Tuesday that he will be wearing number 0, which will be allowed for the first time in 2023 following a vote by owners.

Berrios joined the Dolphins in the offseason as a free agent from the New York Jets, for whom he wore number 10. Berrios wasn't going to get that number with the Dolphins because it belongs to Tyreek Hill.

Once he appears in a regular season game for the Dolphins, Berrios will join Hall of Fame quarterback Bob Griese for the distinction of being the only player to wear a specific number for Miami. Griese, of course, wore 12 and it's now one of three retired jersey numbers for the Dolphins along with 13 (Dan Marino) and 39 (Larry Csonka).

MORE NUMBERS REVEALED

Berrios became the third player whose 2023 number was revealed via social media, following cornerback Kader Kohou and linebacker David Long Jr.

Kohou will be wearing 4 after switching from the number 28 he wore as a rookie free agent in 2022. For those wondering, Kohou wore the number 8 at Texas A&M-Commerce. The number 4 was worn last season by punter Thomas Morstead, who signed with the Jets as a free agent this offseason.

Long, meanwhile, will be wearing the same number 51 he wore for the Tennessee Titans, his previous team before the joined the Dolphins in the offseason. No Dolphins player wore that number last year after rookie Channing Tindall changed from 51 to 41.

Barring a change in their practice, look for the Dolphins to announce all their jersey numbers once they have completed putting together their rookie class.

For those wondering about Jalen Ramsey, the team's marquee veteran acquisition this offseason, the number 5 he wore with the Rams is available now that Teddy Bridgewater no longer is on the roster. Ramsey also has worn 20 and that number was worn last season by Justin Bethel, who was re-signed as a free agent in the offseason.
