Brett Favre established countless relationships, even lifelong friendships, with coaches, teammates, mentors and the like during his 20-year NFL career. But when selecting who will present him at his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in Canton, Ohio, next month, Favre chose someone much closer to home and dearer to his heart.

His wife Deanna.

“Deanna is the best teammate I’ve ever had,” Favre, 46, recently stated about selecting his wife to induct him on Aug. 6, via Shutdown Corner. “She has been by my side throughout this journey and I’m so excited that she gets to play such an important role for me.”

Favre’s wife will become only the second spouse to present her husband as a Hall inductee, joining Mike Singletary’s wife, Kim, who handled the duties back in 1998.

“Serving as Brett’s presenter is a great honor,” Deanna, 47, said. “I am thrilled to be able share this special moment in time with him.”

The story goes that Favre and Deanna first met when she was seven years old. She later gave birth to their first child in 1989 and the two ultimately wed in the summer of 1996 in Green Bay during his tenure with the Packers.

Deanna has supported her husband through several ordeals, controversies and scandals, including a not-so-flattering text-messaging scandal during his tenure with the Jets. She also became a source of strength for Favre during his battle with pain medication addiction in the mid-90s.

But Favre has similarly taken on the role of supportive spouse as well, especially when Deanna was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004.

Favre has also taken well to retirement as well in this regard, even taking part in triathlons alongside his wife. And now, as a debt of gratitude for her decades of support, Favre has chosen longtime friend and confidante in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
