Brittany Mahomes has a new hair color ahead of the 2024 NFL season. The wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is now rocking red hair after being a blonde for years. On Instagram, Brittany Mahomes showed off the hair in a series of photos and wrote in the caption “feeling spicy.”

It’s not clear if Mahomes dyed her hair or is wearing a wig, but she credits hairstylist Laura Beth Cabott for the new hairstyle. Her husband showed some love for the new look by resharing her post to his own Instagram Stories and adding a heart emoji, according to E! News.

In the comments section of her post, Mahomes said her daughter, Sterling Skye, loves the new hairstyle. But her son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, is still getting used to the change. “OK surprising Sterling loves it!” Mahomes wrote. Bronze not so much.”

Brittany Mahomes is a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie

Mahomes’ news hair comes a couple months after she made her debut in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. “Brittany Mahomes is your newest 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit rookie! Owner of the Kansas City Current NWSL team, former pro athlete, wife and mother, Brittany emerges as the epitome of a modern-day powerhouse,” Sports Illustrated editor in chief MJ Day said in a statement.

“Founder of the world’s first ever dedicated stadium for women’s sports, Brittany’s journey has surpassed all expectations, inspiring others with her tenacity and unyielding determination. We are proud to welcome her to the SI Swimsuit family where she will undoubtedly continue to empower women worldwide.”

“I’m truly just so humbled and still in disbelief,” Mahomes added. “As a girl from Tyler, Texas, who only really knew sports, never in a million years did I think I’d be in [the SI Swimsuit Issue]. I’m just so grateful for this opportunity.”

Mahomes has been supportive of Patrick who has won three Super Bowl with the Chiefs. But her focus now is helping the Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) become champions. Mahomes is one of the owners of the team, and the Current are playing in the new CPKC Stadium, the first purpose-built stadium used for exclsuive for women’s soccer.

“These women deserve to feel important and have their own facility so that they can perform at their best,” Mahomes explained. “I hope this sets the bar for women’s sports everywhere and other cities continue to build around women’s sports. Just like young boys get to dream of playing football at stadiums like Arrowhead, I want young girls everywhere to aspire to play at stadiums like CPKC.”
