Broncos All-Pro LB Von Miller under criminal investigation

Kieran Nicholson and Ryan O'Halloran of the Denver Post have confirmed that Denver Broncos Pro Bowl linebacker Von Miller is under investigation by police in Parker, Colorado.

The three-time First-team All-Pro who turns 32 years old in March missed the entire 2020 season because of an ankle injury.

"The case is currently under investigation, and no information can be released at this time," Parker police spokesman Josh Hans said in an email message shared by Nicholson and O'Halloran. No case had been presented as of Friday afternoon, and the nature of the investigation was not disclosed.

ESPN's Jeff Legwold added that Miller did not respond to requests for a comment. The Broncos released a brief statement:

Miller was named to AFC Pro Bowl squads each season from 2014 through 2019 and had kept away from off-field troubles since he violated the NFL's substance abuse policy in 2013.

As Nicholson and O'Halloran noted, Miller's contract runs through the 2021 campaign and accounts for $22.125 million of the team's available salary-cap space. However, Denver could save $13.875 million by parting ways with Miller during the offseason.
