Broncos HC: Bradley Chubb 'is a problem for us on the practice field'

The Broncos have one of the league's better defenses. Perhaps no player on that side of the ball is more intimidating than fourth-year outside linebacker Bradley Chubb.

“[He] is a problem for us on the practice field,” Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett said at a news conference. “So we want him to be a problem on game day.” Per Sports Illustrated, Hackett said Chubb has been "unblockable" at training camp.

Chubb, a first-round draft pick in 2018, has played in Super Bowl MVP Von Miller’s shadow most of his career. He broke Miller’s Denver rookie sack record, registering 12 in 2018, but he hasn’t come close since.

Chubb, who made the Pro Bowl in 2020, hasn't played poorly, but he has missed 24 games over the past three seasons. He suffered a torn left ACL in the fourth game of 2019.  Last year, he had bone spurs removed from both ankles in separate surgeries and missed 10 games.

“You don’t feel like the person they brought you in here to be,” Chubb said recently, per SI. “I had a lot of battles with myself internally. It was a tough ride, but I’m glad I’m on the other side of it.”

Fortunately for Chubb, he has been healthy throughout camp. He also has shown glimpses of the potential from his rookie season.

“I think he’s going to have a monster year,” said Broncos right tackle Garret Bolles. via SI.

Chubb, entering the final year of his rookie contract, could clinch a contract extension by repeating his rookie year performance.
