Broncos Jerry Jeudy entering make-or-break year in 2022

The Denver Broncos are excited to see quarterback Russell Wilson make his debut, but other players are bound to break out. Safety Justin Simmons highlighted one wide receiver during the Broncos' telecast in their final preseason game against the Vikings.

“Jerry Jeudy,” said Simmons to 9News Denver. “I’m excited to see what he’s gonna do this year.”

The Broncos selected Jeudy with the 15th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft before fellow pass-catchers CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson. He had a stellar career at Alabama, winning a national championship, a Biletnikoff Award, and earning consensus All-American status.

According to Pro Football Focus, Jeudy had the potential to be as good as fellow Alabama wide receivers Julio Jones and Amari Cooper. Unfortunately for Jeudy, the first two years of his career were a mixed bag.

Jeudy has played with five different quarterbacks in Denver. As a result, he’s struggled to get in a groove. In 2020, he caught less than 50 percent of targets. However, he still led the team in receiving yards. He also made one of the most impressive catches of the 2020 season against the New York Jets.

Expectations were high for Jeudy again in 2021, but a right ankle sprain derailed his season, forcing him to miss seven games.

Jeudy is entering a make-or-break year now that he has a Super Bowl-winning quarterback in Wilson. He faces pressure from intriguing prospects Brandon Johnson and Seth Williams. Both impressed during the preseason.
