Broncos' Russell Wilson references 'high knees' workout after win over Jacksonville

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson seemed to take a shot at critics after Sunday's 21-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"Yeah, I got the high knees on that third down," Wilson said about a moment in Sunday's contest while speaking with media members shortly after the win, per Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post. "While the guys are playing 'Uno' on the flight, maybe we’ll all have to (do them)."

Wilson was referencing what became a controversial high-knees workout he completed on the flight to London ahead of Sunday's matchup. Wilson was working to recover from the hamstring injury that sidelined him for the Week 7 home loss to the New York Jets.

NFL Network host Kyle Brandt and ESPN personality Keyshawn Johnson were among members of the NFL community who blasted Wilson over the exercises and for being "performative" and a "phony."

In total, Wilson completed 18-of-30 passes for 252 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the victory that improved Denver to 3-5 on the season and that ended a four-game losing streak.

"Adversity is temporary," Wilson said about his team's previous run of form. "I’ve never shied away from pressure. You’ve got to look right at it and keep going and keep believing and stay the course."

Per ESPN stats, Wilson began Monday 24th among eligible quarterbacks with an 83.5 passer rating, 28th with a 35.9 total QBR, and 30th with a 58.8% completion percentage this season. In seven games, he's thrown for six touchdowns and four interceptions.

The Broncos are now in their bye and next play at the Tennessee Titans (5-2) on Nov. 13.
