Broncos schedule COVID-19 vaccination day for players, personnel

Members of the Denver Broncos are among the growing number of NFL players who have declared intentions to skip voluntary in-person offseason workouts organized by teams due to COVID-19 concerns, among other issues.

Per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, the Broncos have scheduled a vaccination event for April 21 that will include the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine being made available to players, coaches, staff members and also all adult family members of personnel. Second vaccine doses will be administered on May 13.

The Broncos will first hold a virtual COVID-19 vaccine education seminar hosted by an infectious diseases expert on Friday.

A report surfaced on Tuesday that the NFL recently sent a memo telling all 32 teams to encourage players and other personnel to receive available COVID-19 vaccines. Currently, neither the league nor the NFL Players Association is mandating players get vaccinated to participate in workouts, the preseason or regular-season games.

Earlier on Wednesday, the NFL announced that more than 2 million shots have been administered at league vaccination sites as executives and owners hope to fill stadiums to capacities during the 2021 season. The Buffalo Bills are currently the only NFL team planning to require that fans show proof of vaccination to attend games later this year.
